Rabbi Binyomin Sloviter became the Rabbi of the Irving Place Minyan in August 2023. Rabbi Sloviter is married to Rebbetzin Yael Sloviter. They are blessed with five daughters – Rena, Batsheva, Aliza, Atara, and Yakira.
Prior to moving to Woodmere, Rabbi Sloviter was the Senior Rabbi of Congregation Beth Hakneses Hachodosh in Rochester, New York for six years. Earlier in his career, Rabbi Sloviter served as the Assistant Rabbi of Congregation Beth Jacob in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked closely under the tutelage of Rabbi Ilan Feldman. Rabbi Sloviter also served as the Rabbinic Intern at Congregation Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion in Baltimore, Maryland, under the leadership of Rabbi Moshe Hauer.
In 2015, Rabbi Sloviter attained his Rabbinic Ordination from Ner Israel Rabbinical College, and in 2017, he earned a master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Touro College. In addition to his Rabbinic functions, Rabbi Sloviter is a practicing licensed marriage and family therapist, focusing on addiction, mental health, and trauma counseling. Rabbi Sloviter is concluding a five-year Dayanut Program.
Rabbi Sloviter’s passion for serving as a Shul Rabbi is deeply rooted in his commitment to cultivating meaningful relationships with congregants through a holistic approach that entails actively attending to their diverse needs, encompassing not only their spiritual well-being but also other aspects of their lives, fostering connections with individuals of all ages through Torah learning and Ahavat Yisrael, and advocating for the Orthodox community beyond the confines of his synagogue. Foremost among all the cherished aspects of his Rabbinic role, are the many personal friendships and connections Rabbi Sloviter has forged along the way.
Rabbi Sloviter spent his early childhood in Pomona, New York before relocating with his family to Tucson, Arizona at the age of thirteen. He adeptly utilizes his upbringing to forge meaningful connections with individuals from diverse religious backgrounds. Rabbi Sloviter wholeheartedly embraces their unique journeys and personalities, employing creative means to foster personal connections to Judaism for each person.
